PIGEON BAGEL
PITTSBURGH, PENNA.

Previously a dry-cleaner with blue linoleum floor and a dropped ceiling, Pigeon Bagel emerged as Pittsburgh’s best bagel shop. The team immediately set to work removing the linoleum, to reveal the slab on-grade concrete floor. With some grinding and polishing the concrete began to show its aggregate (reminiscent of an everything bagel!)

These honest, kosher bagels required a setting that exemplified their character. The soft natural wood ceiling, was envisioned with the intention to not “open a can of worms” of mechanical system that were beneath the drop ceiling. The slatted wood was tied into the existing drop-ceiling grid and captured the existing lights, only the outside row of tiles were removed to enhance a feeling of spaciousness.
